Hi AJ

Really liked the pieces of art.The moment i saw it....i thought they were done by some renowed artist and u being you....would have put them here to showcase the artist's work. But marvellous! truly master pieces. Each of these speak volume.

Is there a possibility to get hold of your play. I would like to read the lesser talked about-cruel realities of the jail world and which people face behind bars.

Let me know once you are ready to share, then i can share my email id.
Till then....

Ciao

Hey

Forgot to share one thing. The best one which I have liked out of the four art pieces is the 2nd one-Self in Technicolor- Sepia imprint.

Looks like that life has come to a halt.....looks inexpressibly sad, timeworn, and defeated. While everything else is in shadow and hidden, the face look alike sketch is highlighted as if it wants to attract all the light.
This in contrast to the first one......"This piece has highly contrasting values, variations in line weight and textures."

Anyone who wants to know the state of mind of the artist & other elements can recognize them in this work of art without listening or reading a word.

All i can say is, if the print can evoke such thoughts.......i wonder what would my mind set on in seeing it in reality.

Cheers!

"People want to find a "meaning" in everything and everyone. That's the disease of our age, an age that is anything but practical but believes itself to be more practical than any other age."

The abovesaid statement was made by Picasso when someone asked him the meaning of his work.
The work that I am commenting about belongs to a person whom I was under the impression of knowing very well. But as soon as I saw the sketches I had to correct myself on the grounds. AJ is very mysterious. Something that is still to be known, craves inside him to come out. But I am sure the world will be surprised to see his intellect as soon as he reinvents himself. I wait for that day when people wont believe that a person who walks, talks & mingles with them had such an appoach & insight.

These sketches points towards the reinvention that has already begun.
God bless him.

Amit

Hi Amit,

Nice drawings, although I must admit that I am not too much of an art
fan. My wife however paints and she's pretty good if I say so myself.

What was your mood like when you did these paintings? As far as I can
see, they show a lot of emotions (anger, self-pity??? (not too sure),
confusion?)

Cheers
Ganesh

I think your 'crayon scribbled', 'vertically brushed' first 2 paintings, by mistake have been scanned upside down - 007

09/11/2006 Arvind:
Greetings AJ,

The self-portrait stands out starkly. For its raw, unabashed honesty, precise description, its power. This is the first work that I would label as 'personal' - your portrait is telling of your mental and physical condition. The idea of a sepia imprint is well-inspired! The two works should placed alongside and presented as a diptych - 'shell, within'. It reflects the internal and external manifestations of self. Might be a thought to do a series of works representative of a revisit to those times. A century or so later, auctioneers will be falling over each other for the famed 'Jail' series'!

Very nice Mr. J - very nice indeed. love to see more of these gems.

avm

ps - the fresh works by Waghela on your site look very interesting indeed - when can we meet him?
